I read " Perks of being a Wallflower"
✿Wallflower✿
The story starts as a letter to unnamed friend of Charlie's. The Letters are one way so it's only charlie talking about himself. The receiver has no voice or conscience which might fascinate a lot of readers to write their own letters to an unnamed or "imaginary friend."
Charlie can prove as a fellow who transforms from young boy with suppressed emotions to sharing intimate friendships and relationships. And his transformation from a nobody to having friends who confide in him is discrete. Almost all of the characters have undergone under some kind of experience that has made them what they are which is kind of reasoning by the author for his characters.
Trauma, abuse & toxic masculinity are also a major part of the story line are character building. There are men who are kind and caring but its result of what they have experienced. Others are rough and mean which is also result of their trauma like Brad's behavior towards Patrick was... not just because of his sexuality but it was a result of the beatings and punishments revived form his patriarch. Whereas, Charlie's Dad was beaten by his stepfather that made him decide against ever beating his own born.

Bill gave Charlie extra assignments and essays to do with extra books to be read, which improved Charlie's understanding of not just language but emotions as well. Bill was the person whom Charlie trusted with most of sensitive information like his sister's boyfriend beating her. Bill was sorry to know that & explained to him that
The perks of being a wallflower is worth reading over and over. Specially for all those who are going through their teen years. This book & Charlie would help you steer through your emotions and problems. You can also yearn with me for a teacher/confederate like Bill.
