Experience, Network building, Exposure, Perks, Letter of recommendation

But stipend??

1. Skill  building

If you land on any internship page be it any opportunity or field it requires a certain skill or experience.

So, if an employee is paid for that work why shouldn't be payment made to an intern?

2. Resume building

A resume consists of a lot of other things than just your experience as an intern. In most cases, the employer doesn't value your experience as an intern and sees a potential employee as just a fresh student.

3. Try out

When you decide to intern for a particular company or a particular field it'd because you wish to pursue it as a career. But often internships are seen as a try-out by employers. This might take from you as the employer would think of you as unskilled labor only.

4. Network building

We meet a lot of people in our lives then why would one want to do unpaid labor just to build connections? Does an entry-level job not seem a better option?

5. Future opportunities

A lot of employers offer an internship with the performance-based decision on a permanent job.

6. Perks

If access to the office's printer & coffee machine seems like a lucrative opportunity might as well get your eyesight checked for once. 

7. Portfolio building

When you are not seen as an employee and made to work what does expecting credit in a project sound like?  

When companies make a profit from interns & utilize their skills, why shouldn't they pay for it? It's not a charity or volunteering job that one can suffice on with just promises made on the clouds. If a company values its money so it should value the ones making it for them. No company should engage in offering unpaid internships.
